Guys. Seriously. I am at work. At the circ desk. And I told myself I'd do homework but I'm toooooooo sleeeeeepyyyy. (This really creepy guy that I don't like just walked past me and gave me cut-eye AND I HOPE HE READS THIS.) Like, I'm supposed to be working on Don Quixote right now, and I'm blowing it off, and then literally just a second ago I got this email from a guy from Spain and SERIOUSLY it said "Claire, did you finish reading your book? I mean "Quixote". Did you like it? Was the English version I got for you a good help?" (direct quote) LITERALLY. Is he psychic or is God sending me a message???
Ok so Urinetown is over, and like everyone I am sad sad sad. I wasn't even that involved, I know, but I had a lot of emotional attachment to it. It was my last show ever at U of T v_v, (<---crying) I'm glad I got to be part of such a stellar production though and that I did makeup, which is my most favorite thing to do. ALSO, usually by the time a production is over I end up hating the cast/crew/mostly cast, but with Urinetown it's the opposite. I have major lubz for the cast/crew, especially the people I only sort of knew before, but got to know better during the course of the show. You know, like Ann, Joc, and Jackie. Except not like them because they're hos and I wish I didn't know them at all. Anyway, it was just cool to see that it was such a positive experience for so many people. (omg the cutest guy ever is roaming the library right now but I'm pretty sure I've seen him at Buddies AND Fly before v_v, <---more crying) Ya so N-E-WAZ major congrats to all uRnTwN PpL who are reading this right now (I wish I could remember which of you do... Ann, Joc, Jack, Mel, Michal, Smeleni? Whatevz I don't know.) We should all work on something again. Like, a softball team or something.
Yo seriously I wanna be home so bad right now. Only 25 minutes to go... I can do this.
I really wish I hadn't chosen this point in time to write out my deepest thoughts on Urinetown, because as you can see, it wasn't very effective. I am debilitatingly tired right now. AND FIREFOX SPELL CHECK JUST TOLD ME "DEBILITATINGLY" IS NOT A WORD. MY ENTIRE SECOND YEAR JUST WENT DOWN THE DRAIN. WTF. WTF. AT LEAST DEBILITATING ON ITS OWN IS STILL OK. But seriously, its adverb form was soooooo useful. I wonder if Drew ever logs on to LJ to read these things because this news should give him the vapors.
Hahahahaha... I thought I was falling backwards on my chair so I just sat up with a start, which made it very clear to everyone who can see me that I was starting to fall backwards... When it turns out all along these chairs just have a lot of give and I was not falling at all.
In conclusion, I should never be let on livejournal at work again. |

So as I was walking home from non-work today, I was thinking about how much I wanted to update my Livejournal (haha I wrote "lifejournal" at first). Now here I am at home in front of my computer and I don't feel like it so much anymore. However, a promise is a promise.
Today was pretty sweet because:
a) the kids (aka. foreign adults... same thing) I was supposed to take ice skating today decided that the rates at Nathan Phillips Square were a rip-off, so instead of having to sit around watching people fall on their asses 'til 2pm, I got to head home long before 1. Yes, and I'm pretty sure I still get paid for the full scheduled time.
b) it was soooOOOooo pretty out that I walked all the way home from the rink (on Queen east of Osgoode station).
c) I made the BEST mochaccino EVAR in like 2 minutes out of ingredients found in my house. (ie. Equality brand hot chocolate mix, coffee, Cool Whip and Sweet n' Low. I don't know why the Sweet n' Low was necessary since hot chocolate mix is already sweetened and I'm not one of those people who really needs to put sugar in coffee, but it was.)
Also, only 10 days 'til California, aka.
-Palm trees
-Orange trees
-El Torito
-Starbucks Doubleshots (yeah, those cans of espresso... did you know they can't sell those in Canada 'cause of some health regulation or something? wtf)
-Mexican things
-Mexican people
-Hot guys (who pay no attention to me)
-99c Store
-A vague smell of barbecue sauce in the air at all times
-PacSun (where I will surely buy nothing, but still appreciate)
-In'n'Out Burgerrrrrrrrrrrr (also: Karl's Jr, Jack in the Box, and every other fast food place they don't have in Canada... But mostly In'n'Out.)
(I was just on Santa Barbara's official site, and did you know they tout themselves as being "The American Riviera"? Like, I LUBZ Santa Barbara, and consider it far better than any European riviera, or Mayan riviera for that matter, but honestly... To give YOURSELF that name...)

DO ANY OF YOU LIKE SLOW, BREATHY, ULTRA-SOMBRE PIANO MUSIC?
Ok, I didn't think I did either, but Emily Haines' new solo album (Knives Don't Have Your Back) is soooOOOoooOOOooOooOOo good. It isn't that often that I find an album I listen to over and over on repeat. The last one was probably Le Tigre's self-titled (yeah, I know, Le Tigre :/ but it's actually really good), and before that it was Metric's Old World Underground Where Are you Now. Anyway, Knives is just so... emotive. I don't listen to a lot of non-Beenie-Man music, but when I do I like it with a good dose of melancholy/dispair/crushing sadness. Also echo-y microphones. This album has all of that!
It isn't at all like her Metric stuff... The Metric song with the closest sound is probably "Calculation (Theme)", but even then, the Emily Haines stuff is a lot more... dream-like? Haunting? BONE-CHILLING??? (Not that much, I just like the adjective.) Ann Pornel, in her usual charming Myspace comment fashion, said it sounded like Nightmare Before Christmas. Funny how the wisest words tend to come from the mouths of children and the mentally deficient, no?
I have to admit, I didn't actually buy the album, per se... I downloaded it, and I'm still even missing one song. HOWEVER, that's only because I have nooooo moneeeeeyeyeyey right now, and I promise to purchase it as soon as I can. I'm okay with downloading in general, but I do think that once you're listening to an entire album, you should probably just fork over the 15 bucks and give the artist what they deserve.
I really like the 6-7 minute epic poem style songs like "Detective Daughter" and "Crowd Surf Off a Cliff" (yes, stuuuuupid title, surprisingly good song). Has ANYONE out there listened to this album? Can you relate? Un-relate?
Wow, I never ever use Livejournal for music reviews (or usually anything more than posting tasteless pictures of myself). I just needed to get that off my chest.
In other news, it's 10:57pm... WHERE ARE MY HOUSEMATES? Don't leave me here to clean my room.

Anyway, today I bought a pair of those dark skinny jeans that kind of go in at the ankles, and I really hate myself. I just need to make it clear that these pants are for fancy clubbing occasions, and NOT pretentious occasions. I think I'm partially redeemed by the fact that I bought them at Costa Blanca, because scenesters -as far as I know- do not shop at that store. Slutty white/brown girls pretending to be Latina do.
Next on the shopping agenda: slip-on Converses. ALL the Italian teenage girls are wearing them these days.
Now, onto ANN PORNEL. I would just like to wish ANN PORNEL a speedy recovery from her wisdom teeth surgery, not because I actually care about how much pain she's in, but because I would like to resume our steamy makeout sessions. |

PS. I got a new batch of FOBs today at work. There are only 18 kids right now, going up to a max of 34... This is compared to 135 kids last month. Only ONE semi-hottie, and NOT A SINGLE ITALIAN. Jeez. Is this a punishment for something I did in a past life? (Maybe using the term "FOB"?) |

I haven't updated in so long. Mostly because I have nothing to say. I am unemployed (help me), out of school, and I don't have the courage to check on ROSI if I've passed all my classes.
I'm going job hunting tomorrow with my sister, so hopefully I'll see some "help wanted" signs. I was holding out for something I'm actually appropriately qualified for (like an office job), but I'll probably end up in retail or food service. Which is so degrading. I AM THIS CLOSE TO GETTING MY DEGREE. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO WORK THE SAME JOBS AS 15 YEAR OLDS? I'll tell you why: because I'm too lazy to network. Aaaaand all the good jobs are already taken. So now I'm guaranteed to be overqualified for whatever job I end up with.
All I'm hoping for at this point is that:
a) I find a job where I get to look hot (ie. no frumpy dress codes or possibility of chai stains).
b) I'm working near hot guys.
Really. I will work as many hours as they ask me as long as I can maintain the hope of meeting boys. Or at least watching them.
